Throw Your Heart Over the Jump and Your Horse will Follow.

“ Throw your heart over the jump and your horse will follow.”

This was the best advice I ever got for horse jumping. It’s also great advice for accomplishing anything that seem challenging or scary.

If you are cantering a half ton horse toward a jump and you start to second guess yourself, you are in trouble. The horse will feel your indecision and likely stumble, swerve away from the jump or crash into the middle of the fence.

Imagine instead that as you canter forward you direct your gaze ahead and you throw your heart right over that fence. Your horse takes heart from you. You and she align in focus, determination, intention and energy. She thunders up to the jump, you rise out of the saddle and lean over her neck. You thrill as you and this magnificent, courageous powerful beast lift as one.

For an exhilarating moment you are suspended in air before clearing the jump and pounding back to earth. Triumph surges through your body- We did it! - before you line your horse up with the next jump and, once again, throw your heart over.

Approaching each jump, you and your horse are dependent on each other for success - as well as for safety and even for survival.

You provide the desire, intention, focus and direction. The horse provides the necessary physical strength, power and mass.

Your Heart Power mobilizes Horse Power to accomplish your desire to clear one jump after another.

Jumping a series of fences in a ring, the Horse Power is literal. Focus your intention, gaze and determination and you inspire the horse’s strength and mass into action.

Just as clearly, working toward your goals and dreams your Heart Power will mobilize Inner Horse Power. We each one of us have a magnificent, powerful beast inside, waiting to be mobilized into specific action.

You Inner Horse Power is the instinctual, primal magical strength of that animal within.

To be most successful at whatever you really want, you need the two, Heart Power and Horse Power, working together.

Your Heart Power decides what matters, sets the course, shows the way, activates and directs the willingness of your Horse Power.

Your Inner Horse Power responds by rallying extraordinary strength, courage, and perseverance to lift you up and over obstacles to reach your goals and dreams.
