You are an artist.
Yes, you.
No matter what your profession, life-stage, training or skill set,
you are an artist.
You are the artist of your life.
You are constantly creating.
Consciously or unconsciously.
With intent or by accident.
All the time.
And yet we all forget.
We have been taught that being an artist means
someone who is somehow special, gifted or who has achieved a certain status or recognition.
Often I hear people say,
Oh, I’m not creative, I can’t even draw a circle.
or
I never have creative ideas.
Drawing or not drawing a circle has nothing to do with being an artist of life.
You do have creative ideas, perhaps you have just been conditioned to suppress or overlook them.
You are, in every moment
sculpting,
molding,
painting,
weaving,
the very substance of your life.
As an artist of life, your tools are your
choices,
attitudes,
moods,
thoughts,
habits and
practices.
You are continually shaping your health,
your happiness,
your relationships,
your environment and
your opportunities.
At birth you were given a certain set of raw materials.
Circumstances give you new parameters and challenges.
Good artists use what they have,
they thrive with parameters, they get resourceful in the face of challenges, they commit to improving their skills.
What art form could be more worthy than your life?
Your life is your masterpiece-in-progress.
Each day invites you to claim yourself as the artist in residence.
I'd love to hear from you:
What do you want to create… today?
How can your challenges help you grow your masterpiece?
