Healthy breathing is simply relaxed, easy, natural breathing. It is natural, but, for most of us, not our normal way of breathing. For most people, it takes some attention and intention to breathe the way we were designed to breath.
Healthy breathing is breathing like a relaxed cat or a sleeping baby. If you are around cats or babies let them be your breathing teachers. Watch them breathe and notice how easily the breath seems to spread through the whole body. The breath is a wonderful flowing wave that spreads out to the ends of the toes and fingers, to the soft top of baby’s head and to the tip of the cat’s tail. Most likely this is the way you breathed when you were a baby.
