Thomas Edison suggested, “Never go to sleep without a request to your subconscious.”
Edison knew well the power of the subconscious mind and the importance of tapping into it. He believed he was able to discover his extraordinary 1,093 patented inventions because of his daily practices that tapped into his subconscious.
One of his daily practices was to make a request before sleeping.
I do this myself most nights and often suggest it to my clients.
You can use this practice to get answers, support, insight, guidance on any part of your life.
You can use it to increase inner qualities including courage, peace, confidence, clarity, support and love.
Offering a question or request just before sleep has been used through the ages by successful people of all walks of life. Famous writers including Robert Louis Stevenson, Mark Twain, Isabel Allende and Amy Tan regular use or used this practice to find ideas and inspiration, to get unstuck and to discover the next direction for their books.
Robert Lous Stevenson wrote that he never knew what he was going to write the next day until it came to him from dreaming while he slept.
Sue Grafton, best known for her 25 Alphabet Mystery novels regularly wrote letters before bedtime to RB (her Right Brain) addressing it as a dear, wise, helpful friend.
The possibilities are endless
You can ask for an answer to a specific question or for insight about a challenge
You can request to be shown the next step in whatever project you are working on or to be filled with an inner quality you need more of.
State it as a request either in writing or in your heart and body-mind.
Be patient and open to receiving. When you wake up the next morning take a little time before getting out of bed to reflect and notice. Be aware during the day of answers and insights that may pop up.
Every night is a chance to dip into a deeper, intelligence beyond your ordinary rational mind.
How could you use this tonight? If you are already using it, could you take it a bit further?
